Timber Lake Legion

American Legion & Legion Auxiliary

American Legion Gene Gelino Post #83
Legion Auxiliary: Gene Gelino Unit #83, District 1

In 1919, when local servicemen began returning home from the war, they decided to form a legion post in Timber Lake. Gene Gelino Post #83 came to be in 1920, with the Legion Auxiliary Unit following in 1921.

Our post/unit is named after local hero, Gene Gelino. Gene was the first recorded casualty of war in our area, dying in combat during WWI after almost a year of service and just one month before the war ended.

The Legion and Legion Auxiliary hosts Veteran’s Day and Memorial Day programs in Timber Lake each year, and the Legion proudly conducts the firing squad and color guard for these programs and veteran funerals. These organizations also sponsor Boys and Girls State participants each year.
